Foundation Course in Clinical Radiology

Category: Foundation - General

Date: June 21st 2012 until June 22nd 2012

Location: Radiology Academy, Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds

The Foundation Course in Clinical Radiology was developed to help foundation trainee doctors understand the principles and practices of radiology.

The objectives of this course are to develop an understanding of radiological anatomy, to gain an insight into the principles of radiation physics and radiation protection, plain film interpretation, ultrasound and vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology.

Junior doctors will therefore be able make the best use of their Department of Radiology, and make an informed decision with regards to their career choice given the recent changes in the selection process for specialist trainees.

We adopt a modality and organ system based approach focusing on the respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiovascular systems. Paediatric radiology is also covered separately.  The delegates benefit from small group mentored workshops, plain film interpretation quizzes and an interactive practical ultrasound session.
