The National Foundation Doctors' Presentation Day on Jan 16th 2015 was organised and delivered for the fifth time by the Severn Foundation School, Health Education South West.

The event was attended by 130 foundation doctors and approximately 30 faculty members representing HEE, HQIP, the GMC, UKFPO, NCEPOD, RCP, BMA, and NICE. The event is free for delegates to attend and therefore relies on the sponsorship and support of the organisations listed above, as well as the goodwill of the shortlisters and judges to deliver the event.

Trainees presented Quality improvement work, Educational projects, Case reports and Original/research work. This year we also included a sustainable healthcare section supported by ‘Watifi’ and ‘Sustainable Healthcare’ as we feel this is a very important area for consideration.

Trainees and faculty came from right across the UK, as well as the Maltese foundation school. Approximately 200 submissions were received and 120 accepted for presentation. This year the posters were presented as parallel sessions allowing the presenters to give a short oral explanation of their work to the judges.

The day as always provided a real opportunity to see the variety of high quality work that our trainees are undertaking alongside their clinical commitments. Closing the day Mr Angus Waddell, BMJ Team of the year winner 2014; shared a thought provoking insight into how a team can work despite the most challenging circumstances.
