Introduction to Laparoscopic Theatres

The faculty will include consultants with expertise in laparoscopy in a range of specialties plus experienced laparoscopic theatre practitioners.
Delegates attending this course will benefit from:
• At least 4 hours of hands-on practical sessions
• An overview of laparoscopy
• Preparation and patient positioning
• Laparoscopic equipment and instrumentation
• Safe access techniques
• Laparoscopic camera skills
• Laparoscopic dissection skills
• Safe electrosurgery and new dissection technologies
• Laparoscopic tissue approximation
• Completion of the operation
Aimed at Foundation doctors (Y1-2) plus Core trainees and non-training grades interested in a basic grounding in laparoscopic surgery. The knowledge and skills covered in this course will be relevant to general, colorectal, upper GI surgery plus gynaecology and urology. Other healthcare professionals who are developing their roles in laparoscopic theatres are also welcome to attend.
