Three Year Foundation Programme

This is an innovative post in which we are offering foundation doctors the opportunity to undertake the FY2 year as a 50% Clinical and 50% Educational post over two years (combined F1 and F2 programme length of 3 years).

The 50% Educational element can be tailored to the interests and training needs of the applicants and has 3 main strands of work.

  1. Quality Improvement (QI) Projects. The foundation doctor will have the opportunity to lead a quality improvement project with a team of other doctors in training. The 2 year programme will allow successful applicants to become involved in a longer term project within the Trust that will have long lasting and sustainable outcomes for patient care. Training will be provided by the Foundation QI Lead and Clinical Innovation Fellows with an aim to present the project at a Regional or National Conference and publish in a peer reviewed journal.
  2. Education. Opportunity to undertake a funded postgraduate teaching qualification. Assist with the delivery of teaching to F1 doctors and Trust simulation teaching. Training on simulation will be provided.
  3. Pastoral support. Assist the Trust pastoral leads in supporting the F1 doctors through the Foundation doctors mentoring programme and organising team building events.
